Imagine That
by Vanessa Chisakula
What if
Our work was wrapped in shared stories
Little infinity boxes with tiny bright coloured bow ties
To unwrap for each one there human experience
If once upon a goal
Could be achieved by understanding there is no I in team
But since there is a me if you jumble it up
We can always make it a we
And together we will celebrate the win
Since one tree cannot make a forest
What if leadership meant to embody role modeling
While exemplifying humanity
Could we achieve this by developing virtual reality video games set in a future that feels authentic
Reliable and purposeful
Or a Journey to the time of our forebears
Where every task was accomplished by hand
Without the aid of any machinery
You too should have stories of men who walked on fire
The magic lived in their palms
And their fate were invisible lines on each hand
Understanding mentorship to its core
Knowing the true meaning of the saying that he who is leading and has no one following is only taking a walk
What If we looked diversity in the face
We told it we are unafraid
That here differences are embraced and not feared
Like a kaleidoscope of humanity
Each colour a representation of a part of humanity
Because all the monkey cannot hang on the same branch
That every heart beat to a song it really wants to dance too and
That the guy next to the next guy and the guy after next were dancing to the same tune except in a different language and a preferred pitch
Then nature becomes a testament of a guiding hand
Effortlessly dishing out lessons
As gentle and as beautiful as vast plains kissed by dew
That the earth is not ours, it is a treasure we hold in trust for future generations
And sustainability is not a farfetched dream nor a nightmare
But a lived reality
Where we reduce negativity
Reuse positivity and
Recycle gratitude
Yes we might not replace the KPI’s, OKR and KRA with an LOL or an LMAO
We seldom confront our true, authentic selves without layers of masking
Work places turned into battle fields
Words become weapons leading to concealed scars and unhealed wounds
And we are armed with these measures
We possess tools and resources we need
It's the perfect environment for us all to flourish and become the best versions of ourselves.
Just imagine with our united strength
What difference it can make
To build a sphere with limitless imaginations
Humanizing the supercharge
Transcending our own human understanding
To absorb the sight of shuttles that we’d have
To brave to set foot on another planet
For us
To us
By us
A world which celebrates success of all
No matter if it is one, two or all.
Now to imagine that it could really come true
