Preparing for the ‘Third Third’
One topic that has emerged in conversations with CLT members, is a desire to better understand how Catalysts navigate the latter parts of their careers and latter parts of their lives.
Through the years Catalyst Constellations co-founders Shannon and Tracey have noticed that Catalysts don’t seem to move from that second phase into traditional retirement. Instead, they intentionally craft a third part of their career.
We set out to better understand this ‘Third Third’ by having conversations with people who are currently in this period or have been considering this period.

Increasing Our Innovation Metabolism
Our CLT exploration for the first quarter of 2023 asked how members can “increase their innovation metabolism” by better engaging with key stakeholders throughout their organizations. We interviewed a range of members to learn how they shepherd innovation, introduce new concepts, and introduce new products and processes.

Reimagining Strategy
When discussing our next CLT exploration, a CLT community member suggested exploring how our methods of strategy creation and strategic planning may be shifting as organizations need to react to the world around us – for example, global pandemic, racial injustice, geopolitics, climate change, technology growth, increased competition, customer needs, employee expectations, and more – in what feels like an ever increasing pace. The old standard of setting 3–5-year strategic plans come into question.

Self-Managed Teams Deep-Dive: A Carya Group Case Study
The Catalyst Leadership Trust (CLT) is a collection of global catalytic executives creating positive change and operating on the cutting edge of trends to do so. One key benefit of being a CLT member is access to one another.
One way we help maximize the impact you can gain from one another is sharing learnings from your unique experiences. From our initial one-on-ones with members and our CLT kickoff meeting, the concept of ‘self-managing teams’ rose to the top as a key area for exploration.
